Old Scituate Light (Scituate, Massachusetts)

Last month, I visited World’s End in Hingham and spent a few hours exploring the reservation. Once I was done, I took a quick ride over to Scituate, the neighboring town. There were a handful of places in Scituate that I wanted to check out but unfortunately, it was going to get dark soon. As someone who enjoys lighthouses, I figured it would be best to check out out the town’s most popular attraction: Old Scituate Light.

Located in Cedar Point, Old Scituate Light is a historic lighthouse that was built in 1811. Besides the beautiful lighthouse itself, the area offers great views of the ocean and coastline. There is also a rocky jetty that you can access to get a closer view of the ocean. Since it was a weekday evening in the fall, it was pretty dead so I was easily able to take photos of the lighthouse without anyone being in the way, which is always a plus. On the other hand, I can imagine this area being pretty packed on a hot summer day.

As a fan of lighthouses and always looking for the opportunity to visit a new one, I’m glad I tacked this on to my trip. If lighthouses are your kind of thing too and want to see one of the cooler ones in New England, Old Scituate Light is a solid choice. It’s open all year around so you can visit whenever you want.
